HONORS BIOLOGY ANIMAL KINGDOM
INSTRUCTION PAGE
This wiki website will allow students to explore the Animal Kingdom quicker and in greater depth. It will also be a valuable resource for students to use and refer to in the future.
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Each student will be assigned a phlyum, subphylum or class. The
assignments are at the bottom of the page.
2. Students need to research and pick an animal from the assigned
classification and BE that animal.
a. Write your Wiki from the animals perspective. Remember that all of
your pages must be from the animals point of view. See the example
below if you have any questions or ask me. REMEMBER everything
you write about your animal is from the animals point of view.
For example: I am Ursus maritimus. My coat is a beautiful white fur. I am female and my
cubs are in my den. I nurse them with mammary glands. I hunt to nourish myself so that I can continue to feed them. As I hunt for seals I can feel my blood pumping. My blood is pumped by a four chambered heart etc.
b. Initially list the animal you have chosen by scientific name. Later refer to it by its common name.
3. The animal you have chosen will need to explain on the web page you create WHY it is a member of that particular phylum, subphylum or class. To do this, you will need to know the characteristics for the organisms in each classification. In you explanation, why you are considered a member the phylum, subphylum and class etc, each characteristic should be addressed.
4. Include how you (the animal) perform the seven functions
needed for survival.
5. Be thorough in your descriptions but also be creative. Use pictures
and diagrams to support your explanations.
6. Cite the sources of your pictures, diagrams and
information on your page.
